What is the FinanceLab London Study Trip?

FinanceLab study trip is an annual tradition started back in 2012. The trip has been ongoing since then, only with the exception of 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19. FinanceLab facilitates a trip to London for some of Denmark’s brightest students, hand-picked by the banks, to meet some of the biggest Investment Banks in the world. You will get the opportunity to experience the banks from the inside and get a feeling for what it is like to be a part of an M&A deal, trading on the world’s most vibrant trade floors and work as an analyst in asset and wealth management departments renowned around the world.

How does it work?

Throughout FinanceLab’s history, we have developed a network with the financial sector in London and wish to pass some of our knowledge and experience on to you. Our partners in London have repeatedly expressed interest in meeting some of our members. We therefore negotiated a deal where they sponsor a trip for you to come meet them in their main offices in London. Send your CV, transcript and a brief motivational letter, and our Premium Sponsors in London will select the participants, who they are most interested in meeting. This is a unique experience and opportunity for high level networking.

Everyone is welcome to apply! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Currently, we have reached an agreement with several banks for our upcoming trip and are in the process of finalizing arrangements with a few additional banks. We will be sharing the names of the participating banks very soon.

The previous attendees for the study trip have been very successful in landing internships, and according to the surveys we have conducted after all the previous trips, participants agree that it is worth it! The banks are also very interested in meeting our students again, which means they think it’s worth spending money to meet you!

Anyone currently studying for a bachelor or master in Denmark can apply. We encourage all students with an interest in finance to apply, as the banks aim to hire from a diverse background.

Our premium sponsors select the participants for the trip. Thus, it is completely out of FinanceLab’s hands who gets to go and who doesn’t.

The banks are looking for anyone who has an interest in finance. Even if you are studying something that is not directly relevant they will consider your application if you have shown interest in the field of finance.

The application should include a brief motivational letter (maximum 800 words), CV and university grades.

When you send your application, please combine it into one file which should be attached to mail.

Send your application to studytrip@financelab.dk

Your CV should be one page, without pictures, and be easily readable. The banks receive a lot of CVs, and don’t have time to spend too much time on each. Make sure that the layout is intuitive and clean, and not over the top.

FinanceLab’s trip to London back in 2019 helped me distinguish the different banks, demystified the application process and ultimately inspired me to apply for the role I’m in today.

It was great opportunity to connect with the relevant people. Aside from making great friendships, it allows you to be a step ahead in the recruitment process and ultimately a step closer to a career at an investment bank.

The London study trip in 2019 was a great experience and a truly unique way for students to learn about all facets of the banking industry. I ultimately secured an offer to join J.P. Morgan – and I am convinced that the study trip allowed me to introduce myself to some of the key people in the recruitment process.

The study trip in 2019 gave me the opportunity to further explore my interests within the field of finance, network with professionals, and socialize with other like-minded students. In the end, the trip helped me land an internship and secure a full time offer with J.P. Morgan.
