What is the FinanceLab London study trip?

FinanceLab study trip is a yearly tradition currently going on its sixth consecutive year. FinanceLab facilitates a trip for some of Denmark’s best students, hand-picked by the banks to London to meet several of the biggest Investment Banks in the world. Get the opportunity to see the banks from the inside and get a feel for how it is to be a part of an M&A deal, trading on the world’s most vibrant trade floors or working as an analyst in asset and wealth management departments renowned around the world.

How does it work?

Throughout FinanceLab’s history we have come in contact with the Investment Banking Sector in London, and we want to pass some of our knowledge and experience on to you. Our sponsors in London have repeatedly expressed interest in meeting some of our members, and we have negotiated a deal where they sponsor a trip for you to come meet them in their main offices in London. Send your CV, and our Premium Sponsors in London will select those participants, who they are most interested in. If you are selected, you will get notice from us and be invited to workshops to make sure you are ready to answer all questions they may ask.

The banks we visited in 2019 were: J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Citibank and Deutsche Bank

Our Premium Partner for 2019 was

GOOD THINGS TO KNOW! FAQ

Everyone is welcome to apply! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us

When is it?

We will be in London from Monday, September 9th to September 13th, 2019

How much does it cost?

Our partners in London have agreed to sponsor the trip, but the scope of the trip with everything that is included, still forces us to charge a small fee. This will include plane tickets, hotel, travel cards in London and some meals. Be prepared to pay for the rest of the meals yourself.

Who can apply?

Anyone currently studying for a bachelor or master in Denmark can apply. We encourage students from other universities than CBS to apply as well, as the banks aim to hire from a diverse background.

What about flights?

Flights both ways are covered. We will order the tickets for you, flying out of Copenhagen Airport (CPH), and coming back to CPH after the trip. Transportation to and from the airport must be covered by the participants.

And hotel?

Again – it’s covered as a part of the price.

Who selects the participants?

Our premium sponsors select the participants for the trip. Thus, it is completely out of FinanceLab’s hands who gets to go and who doesn’t.

What are the banks looking for?

The banks are looking for anyone who has an interest in finance. Even if you are studying something that is not directly relevant they will consider your application if you have shown interest in the field of finance.

What should my CV look like?

Your CV should be one page, without pictures, and be easily readable. The banks receive a lot of CVs, and don’t have time to spend too much time on each. Make sure that the layout is intuitive and clean, and not over the top.

Please also note your expected year of graduation (when you plan to start working full time).

Is it worth it?

The previous attendees for the study trip have been very successful in landing internships, and according to the surveys we have conducted after all the previous trips, participants agree that it is worth it! The banks are also very interested in meeting our students again, which means they think it’s worth spending money to meet you!

What banks will we be visiting?

For the year 2019 we will be visiting J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Citibank and Deutsche Bank.
